House Groups
Whether you call them house groups, home groups or cell groups, here is a brief guide to what they are, how they work and how to get involved.
The reason for having our mid-week small groups can easily be seen when you consider two questions: How can I really get to know and share my life with 70 or more people if I only see them once a week? How can 70 people all learn to grow in ministering to God and to each other if all of that is packed into 1hour 45 minutes on a Sunday? The obvious answer is that if we want real church life it can't work like that.
Meeting in small groups isn't a new idea. The early church gathered together in people's houses to meet just as we do. Our small groups, or house groups, provide time and opportunity for people to really get to know each other, to meet with Jesus, worship together and to learn to minister themselves. The common theme to our house groups is simply that they consist of something between 5-15 people meeting once a week, on Wednesdays or Thursdays, in someone's home. Apart from that, each house group differs: some being filled with younger people, some with older and some with a mix. There is no set plan or curriculum that house groups must follow, each house group being free to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit.
If you would like to get involved in one of our house groups then please contact John France. Alternatively, come along to a Sunday morning service and speak to one of our elders or house group leaders.
