Worship

A short piece on the importance of worship within the King's Gate Church and the approach we take to it.

More than a song. While we love to sing to God, a song in itself is not what He has desired (as Matt Redman once wrote). Our goal in the church is that our lives would speak of the glory of our God, not just our songs. As we spend time in the presence of God we are changed - as someone once said "beholding is becoming". Because of this we want to be led by the Spirit into God's presence when we meet together.

Our church has a mix of people, backgrounds and ages as does our music. At any given meeting you are as likely to find songs by Tim Hughes, Matt Redman, Martin Smith, Merchant Band and Third Day as you are Dave Billbrough, Kevin Prosch, Keith Green or for that matter Wesley, Crosby or Newton.

From Our Hearts. Ultimately, we want to respond to God with the overflow of our hearts and so each meeting will be different. Some songs manage to say exactly what we would wish to convey but couldn't otherwise find the words to express. However, as a church we are learning to sing out to God in our own words by the inspiration of the Spirit.

Don't worry if you find singing difficult or embarrassing. We're not a choir, we simply desire to make a joyful noise to the Lord and we would love you to join us in worshipping Him.
